Day 5 – Salzburg

February 11, 2012

Today we drove for two hours to visit Mozart’s city, Salzburg. To our surprise one of our groups had a Dutch speaking guide. We visited several things in this nice town. And some of recognized some of the locations where the sound of music was filmed. The guided tour ended on top of the castle. From there you have a great view of the surrounding countryside.

In the afternoon we visited Mozarts birthplace and ended our excursion at Stiegl Brewery. The brewers there were curious what we Belgiums would think about their beer. So we had to taste some. J

In the evening our pupils organized a charity event for the local economy and left some money at the disco.

Day 4 – BBQ & Ice Stock Schiessen

February 10, 2012

Friday started off with sports. The pupils were initiated in free running or parcours and afterwards played a game of soccer. Unfortunately we got some (minor) injuries. For lunch the food & dinks group organized a marvelous en very delicious winter bbq. The Austrian and Belgian boys and girls had to combine all their organizational skills to pull this one off. But the succeeded with honours.

In the evening we got introduced in the fabulous Austrian sport of Ice Stock Schießen. But everyone enjoyed it quite a lot. There was a lot of fun and laughter and after 2,5 hours in the freezing cold of the Mühlfiertel we enjoyed a typical Austrian dish.

Day 3

February 9, 2012

Today the pupils did their presentations at the kick off meeting. They did a good job preparing and presenting their work and their plans. Some groups are really active, others still have a lot of work to do. After lunch al groups continued working on their assignments.

In the late afternoon we drove to St-Georgen am Walden to ski. It was a real Austrian winter scene. Snow gently fallen down from the sky, perfect caring powder on the slopes and a cozy ski hut. Quite a few of the pupils and teachers were absolute beginners. But in the end most of them skied downhill as pro’s. Their skills got officially upgraded to intermediate. When we arrived at the hotel everyone was very tired and had a good night sleep.

Day 2 in Perg

February 8, 2012

Second day of our visit to Perg. Today the pupils started working on some topics together with the Austrian pupils. It was great to see them of common ideas,  but also learn from each other’s ideas. At the end of the exchange I think we’re going to see some really fine results.

After lunch we travelled to Linz where we visited the Ars Electronica Museum. In small groups the pupils also visited the city center and filled in questionnaires about the most interesting places.

After a nice evening with fun and music we’re now all going to go to bed because at 7:00 another day of work will start.

Day 1 in Perg

February 7, 2012

After a long night in the bus we arrived 1 and a half hour late in Perg. Reason? Snow and the traffic jams that accompany it. Nevertheless, the pupils and teachers from HTL Perg provide us with a warm welcome.

After a coffee and a small snack teambuilding can begin. In 3 games the Belgian and Austrian students get to know each other a bit better. They had lots of laughs during the games and there was a nice and warm atmosphere in the room. Hopefully we can work further on this positive vibes.

In the afternoon the pupils of HTL Perg gave the SO Zenit pupils a guided tour of the town. And we teachers were guided by our nice Austrian colleague Wolfgang.

Even though everyone is very tired the pupils did work on the project in the evening and prepared the workshops for Wednesday. And they did a good job. But soon after everyone disappeared to their rooms and everything went rather quiet.

Personally, we teachers are very happy with the way everything went today. We hope ou pupils stay as enthusiastic, but correct, for the rest of the journey.
